About My Practice

Integrative counselling grounded in collaboration, trust and ongoing reasearch

Professional Background & Experience

I am licensed counsellor in the UK with 8 years of professional work experience and over 10 years of experience in related therapeutic settings. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can feel daunting, and often requires courage, and as such can be the most difficult step on the path to consistent wellbeing. My endeavour is to make the next steps easier for you.

I have about 3 thousand hours of experience in helping people with their mental struggles, and over twice that amount, in related fields (academic mentoring, care in institutional settings, hospices).

Therapeutic Approach & Tools

My professional development integrates several therapeutic modalities, including person-centred, existential, mindfulness-based CBT (MCBT), Focusing, intersubjectivity, and Gestalt.

At the core of my work is the therapeutic relationship - the depth of trust that allows openness and growth. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic alliance is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes (T. DeAngelis, American Psychological Association, Vol. 50, No. 10).

In practice, this means building trust, clarity, and mutual understanding while integrating different therapeutic approaches into a coherent and personalised process.

Where helpful, we may incorporate practical tools such as:

Worksheets
Mood charts
Journalling
Mindfulness practice
Genograms (family mapping)
Movement and embodiment work
Creative and artistic expression

Testimonials from Clients

Following six sessions of counselling from your colleague Marcin Maciejewski, I am writing to inform you that Marcin provided an outstanding quality of counselling for me at a time when I was really struggling emotionally. As a result of Marcin's patient listening, gentle questioning and astute observations, he guided and supported me to reflect deeply on my situation. Marcin supported me by analysing my needs and suggesting ideas I had not thought about, helping me to look at the bigger picture and giving me moments of silence to stop and reflect and let my emotions come to the surface. After being counselled by Marcin, I feel that he helped me to de-personalise aspects of my situation, see it from a different angle and be mindful of all of the positive aspects my life holds, rather than focussing entirely on one part that was upsetting me greatly at the time. I feel privileged to have been able to have regular conversations with Marcin and wanted you, as his manager, to know that his work with me has been excellent and has helped me heal more quickly than I would have done without his words of wisdom and his gentle caring manner. Thank you for providing such a high quality service.

Marcin is very easy to talk to. He not only listens but offers you insight and perspective on your experience, which works for me. He is also very generous with constructive feedback. A pleasant experience overall.

Carol

Marcin is a great listener. He genuinely helped me expand my awareness of any of the different situations I was having problems with. He asks brilliant questions that help me find the answers myself without him projecting anything onto me. I would recommend to anyone dealing with relationship confusion or feelings of life overwhelm 😊

Marcin has quickly taken to helping me and guiding me through what I’m dealing with. I was hesitant about starting therapy for a long time, but Marcin has made me feel comfortable and respected after only a couple of sessions. He is very interactive, whether it’s asking a question or messaging about an issue - he responds within a few hours (keeping in mind he has other people) and tries to help however he can.

Working with you has been a genuinely valuable experience. As my first therapist, you set a standard I didn't know to expect, creating a space where reflection felt natural rather than forced. Over the time we've worked together, I've developed a real capacity to look inward and gain clarity on things I'd previously just moved past. I look forward to our sessions, whether weekly or fortnightly, in a way that surprised me at first. The consistency of that has made a real difference. I can say with confidence that working with you has had a positive impact on my life, and I'm glad I made the decision to start.
